We’re building a nurturing Islamic home in Sylhet where orphaned girls can find safety, dignity, education, and daily care. They’ll be supported by faith, community, and future opportunity – will you join us?
Sylhet remains one of the most vulnerable regions of Bangladesh. Heavy rains, monsoons, and flash floods strike each year, often followed by deadly landslides that destroy homes and livelihoods. These natural disasters, coupled with ongoing violence across the area, mean many children are left without parents, without shelter, and without the stability, support, and opportunity that every child deserves.
For orphaned girls especially, the consequences can be catastrophic. Without protection, many face risks of exploitation, child marriage, or a lifetime of poverty. Even where help exists, it rarely lasts long enough to rebuild what’s been lost - safety, structure, confidence, and a sense of belonging that supports healthy growth.
Bangladesh has made incredible progress in closing the gender gap in education over the past two decades. But for girls without parents, access to school is still largely out of reach. With no one to guide them, many girls in Sylhet miss out on learning the very skills that could help to secure their independence and dignity.
Mostura Orphan Village exists to change that story; to give these girls not just walls and classrooms, but a foundation for a future built on safety, faith, and opportunity.
£15,000 Raised of £300,000 Goal
The development of Mostura Orphan Village is being delivered in three structured phases, each designed to ensure safety, transparency, and lasting impact.
Land development: Land levelling, boundary wall construction, and site gradingv
Site preparation: Soil testing, foundation layout, and initial landscaping work
Infrastructure setup: An access road and temporary utilities were established
Construction: 12,000–14,000 sq. ft. of total built-up area is under construction
Utilities and infrastructure: Electrical wiring, lighting, fans, and backup power
Sanitation: Drainage, sewage systems, and sanitary fittings are being developed
Interior: Beds, wardrobes, desks, classroom/kitchen furniture, office equipment
Outdoor facilities: Playground, garden, security gate, CCTV, fire safety systems
Health, education, welfare: Books, computers, medical and training equipment
We’ve made strong progress, but completing Mostura Orphan Village will take collective effort and continued generosity. This isn't something one person or one organisation can achieve alone; it's a community project in every sense of the word.
The total cost to complete construction and prepare the orphanage for its first intake is estimated at £355,000. It's a significant figure, but it's more than a building project; it's an investment in the safety, education, and future of hundreds of girls.
Every donation, large or small, keeps the work moving in the right direction. Funding support helps to cover the essential elements that make this vision possible:
Land Development & Site Preparation: £15,000
Dormitories for 300 girls: £90,000
Dining Hall & Kitchen: £20,000
Classrooms & Study Area: £15,000
Health & Counselling Room: £5,000
Prayer / Multipurpose Hall: £10,000
Staff Quarters & Admin Offices: £10,000
Toilets, Showers & Laundry: £10,000
Utilities, Electrical & Plumbing: £20,000
Interior & Furnishing: £25,000
Outdoor Facilities & Safety: £15,000
Health, Education & Welfare Setup: £15,000
In addition to direct site and facilities costs, we also need to fund the operation of the project itself while ensuring a 'safety net' to protect against unforeseen risks:
Project Management & Administration: £20,000
Contingency & Reserve Fund: £15,000
Every contribution helps bring this vision closer to reality. Together, we can create a space where orphaned girls can heal, learn, and grow into confident, capable young women ready to shape a brighter future for themselves and their community.
Once funding is secured, construction and setup will move quickly. The entire build and preparation phase is projected to take 12–15 months, with completion possible within a year depending on the pace of donations and resource availability.
Every stage of the project will be carefully managed and transparently reported, ensuring progress remains steady and accountable from start to finish. With continued support, the doors of the orphanage can open shortly, providing safety, education, and care to hundreds of girls who are waiting for a place to call home.
We’ve come a long way, but the most important work is still ahead. Every stage of progress at Mostura Orphan Village depends on continued generosity from people just like you who believe no child should grow up without safety, education, or care.
It’s your support that keeps the project moving forward. Your donations will contribute directly towards the final phases of the project, providing vital learning materials, and ensuring that when the doors open, everything a child needs to live, learn, and thrive is already in place, ready to transform lives and create livelihoods.

This isn’t about offering temporary relief. It’s about rewriting the future.
Mostura Orphan Village is being built to do more than house and feed vulnerable girls in the short term; it’s here to change the course of their lives. Every classroom, every meal, every act of care is designed to plant the seeds of independence.
For many of these vulnerable girls, a bright future once felt out of reach. Poverty, loss, and displacement left them believing that opportunity belonged to others. But within these walls, they’ll discover that their voices matter, and see that they can learn, grow, and one day lead the very communities that they came from.
The goal isn’t just survival; it’s transformation. By combining education, emotional support, and faith-based values, Mostura Orphan Village will nurture a generation of girls who rise with strength, purpose, and compassion, resulting in a future community of women who will carry forward lessons of dignity and resilience.
Here’s how your donations are helping to achieve this:
300 orphaned girls housed and educated:
A safe, nurturing home where girls receive schooling,
mentorship, and holistic care, all under one roof.
Employment and training for local women:
Homeless and disadvantaged women gain powerful
opportunities in childcare, catering, and operations.
Education that heals and empowers:
A trauma-informed curriculum blends Islamic learning with
child-centred teaching to equip girls with practical skills.
Health and wellbeing support:
Regular medical check-ups, emotional counselling, and
wellbeing programmes help children recover from hardship.
Sustainable living:
Through vocational training, the orphanage will develop
skills and resources to ensure long-term sustainability and community
growth.
Our vision is simple but powerful: to raise a generation of women who were once vulnerable, and see them return as educators, caregivers, and changemakers. Mostura Orphan Village isn’t just a place of refuge; it’s a launchpad for brighter tomorrows and a legacy that will continue to uplift lives for generations to come.
Mostura Orphan Village will provide a safe home and quality education for up to 300 orphaned girls across Sylhet who have lost their families to floods, poverty, or conflict. It will also create meaningful work and training opportunities for local women, particularly the disadvantaged, to strengthen the surrounding community.
All contributions to the orphanage project directly support the construction, furnishing, and setup of the village, as well as the development of health, education, and welfare programmes for the children. Each stage of spending is carefully monitored and fully reported to maintain full transparency and accountability.
The Village goes far beyond the provision of short-term aid. It focuses on long-term transformation, offering education, healthcare, and vocational skills to help girls grow into confident, independent young women who can lead change within their own communities. The project is designed to help people help each other.
The project is managed by the Nabir Foundation, a UK-registered non-profit charity organisation working closely with families and communities. As such, the foundation is governed by strict financial oversight and annual reporting. Regular updates and audits will be shared to ensure every donation is used responsibly and effectively.
We’re excited to share our milestones and celebrate successes with all of our supporters across the globe. Project progression, the latest updates, and photos will be shared through the Nabir Foundation’s website, blog, and social media channels, allowing everyone to follow the journey from construction to completion.
Behind Mostura Orphan Village stands a dedicated team of visionaries, community leaders, and partners united by one goal: to create lasting change for girls in Sylhet. The project is led by Fareed Nabir, founder of the Nabir Foundation, whose personal journey of resilience and compassion inspired the creation of this initiative. Guided by his belief in education, faith, and opportunity for all, Fareed’s leadership continues to shape a project built on transparency, empathy, and impact.
The foundation has established partnerships with local scholars, NGOs, agricultural advisors, and philanthropic donors, both locally and from global networks. Together, they bring expertise in education, community development, and sustainability to ensure the orphanage remains self-sufficient for generations to come.
Every child deserves the chance to feel safe, to learn, and to dream beyond survival. With your help, more children than ever will be given that opportunity. Your support can help open the doors to Mostura Orphan Village; a place where vulnerable girls and women in Sylhet will grow with dignity, education, and love. Whether you donate, fundraise, or simply share our story, you’re part of something bigger than just a building project. You’re part of a legacy of lasting change. Donate today and help us raise a village that changes lives.
